AirTran Airways says it has received U.S. approval to operate new flights to Mexico beginning in May and June.AirTran, owned by Southwest Airlines Co., plans to operate one daily round trip between Orange County, Calif., and Mexico City and one to Cabo San Lucas.
The airline also plans to offer a daily round trip between San Antonio and Mexico City, and four weekly round trips between San Antonio and Cancun. Some seats will go on sale for $109 or $119 each way, although AirTran said restrictions apply.AirTran doesn’t currently operate at Orange County’s John Wayne International Airport, so it will add service from there to San Francisco and Las Vegas in June to beef up the market along with the Mexico flights.
