The head of Jordan’s flagship airline says Royal Jordanian will restart five weekly flights to Tripoli, ending a 10-month halt because of Libya’s civil war.Hussein Dabbas says the flights to the Libyan capital will resume on Thursday, following Libyan assurances over aviation safety and that the airport is ready to receive international flights.
He said Sunday that RJ might increase the number of flights later, expecting active traffic involving Jordanians working in Tripoli and Libyans seeking medical treatment in Jordan.RJ resumed three weekly flights to Benghazi on Sept. 15.Before the crisis, RJ used to operate five weekly flights to Tripoli and two to Benghazi _ the command post of Libya’s rebels before they took control of Tripoli in August.
