The Langkawi Tourism Association (LTA) yesterday called on airlines to introduce flights to Langkawi to get more tourists to visit the resort island.
Its deputy president, Pishol Ishak, said he also hoped that budget carrier AirAsia would resume its discontinued flights between Bangkok and Langkawi.
LTA hopes Bangkok Airways will operate flights fromThailandto Langkawi to bring tourists to Langkawi soon,he told Bernama.Currently, Malaysia Airlines (MAS), AirAsia and Firefly as well as Silk Air of Singapore have scheduled flights to Langkawi.Pishol welcomed Berjaya Air’s introduction of scheduled flights four times a week to the resort island last Friday to meet the increasing demand from tourists.Berjaya Air uses the ATR 72-500 aircraft for its flights between Subang and Langkawi.
