JetBlue on Wednesday launched flights to two new Latin American cities from their hub at New York’s JFK International Airport: Liberia, Costa Rica and La Romana, Dominican Republic.La Romana is JetBlue’s fifth destination in the Dominican Republic, following Puerto Plata, Punta Cana, Santiago and Santo Domingo. It is an up and coming tourist a on the island nation’s southeast coast.
The service to La Romana International Airport will operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with introductory fares starting at $149. JetBlue first announced its plans to serve La Romana in May 2011.JetBlue’s second destination in Costa Rica, Liberia is home to the new Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport in the country’s Guanacaste region, a growing haven for ecotourists and surfers. In fact, during the first month of service, JetBlue will waive baggage fees for travelers who check surfboards.
