No flight has been made to the Tenjing-Hillary Airport, Lukla, on the third consecutive day on Thursday, due to unfavorable weather, where more than 50 flights were made in each day.Thousands of foreign tourists, who want to return to Kathmandu completing their trekking, have been stranded in Lukla due to the disruption of flights.
Dangima Sherpa, a hotelier, said tourists have been packed in hotels of Lukla Bazaar due to the bad weather for the past three days.Trekking entrepreneur Dinesh Lama informed that mostly tourists returning from the Mt. Everest Base Camp and from Gokyo Lake have been stranded.Lama further said they had reached Lukla three days ago from the Mt. Everest Base Camp, but no improvement in weather could be seen, which caused problem to them and the tourists.
Similarly, trekking entrepreneurs said their itineraries have been affected as they could not reach Lukla from Kathmandu and are forced to change their itinerary.Airlines companies have been bearing losses of millions of rupees due to the flights obstruction.Tara Air, Nepal Airlines, Sita Air and Agni Air have been making flights to the Lukla Airport at present.
