Direct flights between Sri Lanka and Ukraine begin from tomorrow. Accordingly, the first Ukrainian flight will arrive in the Katunayake international airport at dawn tomorrow. Minister of Civil Aviation Priyankara Jayarathne says this was a result of the MOU signed between the two countries in last August under the guidance of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Arrival of tourist from Ukraine to Sri Lanka is increasing from year 2008.
The Minister points out starting flights between the two countries will benefit the Ukraine tourists. Sri Lanka had several agreements during the 17th air traffic summit held in Germany recently. Accordingly, discussions with 20 aviation firms are being held at present. The Minister added that international flights will be operated at the Mattala proposed airport from the next year.
