China Airlines cancels flights to Taipei-Okinawa

China Airlines  canceled two flights from Taipei to Japan’s island prefecture of Okinawa Friday following the issuing of a sea warning for Typhoon Muifa by the Central Weather Bureau a day earlier. The carrier operates two Taipei-Okinawa flights per day but canceled them as the eye of the typhoon covered Okinawa.

Although the typhoon was not forecast to hit Taiwan directly, the CWB has warned of heavy rain and the possibility of mudslides in northern and eastern mountainous areas of the country. The weathermen also said the public should stay away from the seashore as heavy seas waves were reported in the northern and eastern coastal areas of Taiwan and outlying Matsu island.
