A domestic airline, Flightlink, has launched daily schedule flights to various destinations in the country effective yesterday, as part of the company strategy to increase its market share in the increasingly competitive market. The airline’s founder and managing director Munaweri Dhirani told The Citizen in an interview that the launch of daily flights has become possible after the firm acquired a new 21-seat aircraft, which will, specifically serve northern Tanzania destinations of Arusha and Serengeti.We are determined to offer Tanzanians the best services. This is locally owned company that knows what customers want,said Mr Dhirani, who holds 100 shares in the airline.
The new aircraft has double engines will help the airline increase schedule flight frequency to Mbeya as well as open up new routes to Kigoma and Tabora in two months’ time.In addition to Iringa and Mbeya, the airline also flies to other destinations in the country including Pemba and Zanzibar and Dodoma.Mr Dhirani pointed out that with the new airline, the total investment of the company has gone up to $4 million, promising to open up more jobs for Tanzanians, including engineers, pilots and dispatchers.He added that plans are to make Flightlink a full-fledged airline company by next year serving both regional and international market. To achieve the aim more aircrafts will be leased from South Africa and Europe.He stated that Tanzania travellers should expect reliability, comfort, security and affordable prices.
