Pilots strike at Irish carrier Aer Lingus could cause delays to Belfast flights

The industrial action comes after talks between the airline and pilots to resolve a dispute over rotas collapsed on Saturday.Up to 30,000 customers could be affected by the strike, which is due to begin on Tuesday, and Michael Landers from the main pilot union IMPACT said that may include Belfast passengers. The industrial action will be happening across the Dublin, Belfast and Gatwick bases,he told UTV.

It will have the effect of delaying flights, but whether or not flights are cancelled will depend on how Aer Lingus reacts to that and they certainly have indicated they may cancel some services.Meanwhile the airline has given its customers more time to change their bookings.Passengers can now change flights they have booked from Tuesday until Friday free of charge, or cancel flights and get a full refund.
