Flights were delayed

Jet Airways had the highest number of flights that arrived late on a regular basis  at Mumbai airport and Air India had the most number of late departures in April. This data is part of a report that the Mumbai International Airport Limited  compiled and submitted to the civil aviation ministry last week. This is the first time that the MIAL has compiled data regarding errant flights. The idea is to caution people about flights to be avoided. Airlines will fall in line if passengers avoid them, said Alok Sinha, joint secretary, civil aviation ministry.

Of the 600-odd domestic flights that Mumbai sees in a day, nearly 350 flights across all domestic carriers were delayed on a regular basis in April, the report said.On April 19, HT had reported that the ministry had asked the MIAL to track airlines that reported consistent delays.Sinha said the ministry would refer to this list while distributing flight slots during the winter schedule.Airlines operating frequently delayed flights could lose their current slots,he said.
