Kenya Airways  will start flying to Chad’s capital N’djamena from the 19th of next month, as the carrier seeks to consolidate its position in the African market.The new route will be operating with a Boeing 737–800 via Cotonou, Benin, twice a week every Sunday and Wednesday from Nairobi

The route will enable KQ strengthen its presence in Central Africa, a landlocked geographical territory that depends largely on imports, according to a press release by the carrier.Managing director Titus Naikuni pointed out the region as an important trade corridor to the lucrative West African market where Kenya Airways already has a strong presence.Most countries in Central Africa including Chad are landlocked and thus have limited export opportunities. He said KQ is seeking to fly from every African capital by 2013, noting that our objective this year is to open 8 new destinations including N’djamenaWe are opening up Africa to a world of opportunity. Other markets around the world are already saturated and more airlines are increasing their presence in Africa as its the new business frontier.Mr Naikuni said aviation experts had singled out the African market as ripe for growth citing the need for fast, reliable and safe transport in the context of infrastructure challenges facing many of them.
