Tom Heanue, executive director at the Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport, said the 8:40 p.m. flight today and the 6 a.m. departing flight on Tuesday have been canceled after a Quitman man was electrocuted there this afternoon.
The integrity of the runway lighting system is intact, Heanue said. But investigators are still on the scene.Maj. Don Scott, an investigator with the Jones County Sheriff’s Department, said the man was electrocuted about 3 p.m. today while working on runway lights at the airport.The identity of the man, who was in his early 20s, was not released, pending notification of next of kin.
