Winds topping 25 mph are delaying flights at New York City’s three main airports for as long as two hours.The Federal Aviation Administration says it has activated a traffic management program that limits flights into the Newark, Kennedy and LaGuardia airports because of gusts.
Delays of incoming flights on Monday evening were averaging two hours at Newark, one hour and 43 minutes at JFK, and one hour and 28 minutes at LaGuardia. The winds were strongest at LaGuardia, which saw 25 mph gusts and low clouds about 500 feet over the ground.The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said there were no reports of airline cancellations.
