Ending a six-month interruption, Mexicana de Aviación will resume Mexico City-Havana flights late this month, after new owners are ready to take the Mexican flag carrier out of bankruptcy.
PC Capital, a group of investors that includes Colmobian entrepreneur and Avianca owner Germán Efromovich, is injecting $200 million in the airline, Mexican media reported. This will allow Mexicana it to resume Feb. 28 all flights to major Mexican and international destinations, including Havana.With Mexican tourism to Cuba on the rise, Aeromexico and Cubana de Aviación have picked up the slack on the Havana-Mexico City route since August last year.
