Regional airline Flybe announced its intention to schedule extra flights between Southampton and Dublin, to meet demand from Six Nations rugby fans. The rugby teams of England and Ireland will meet head to head next month at the Aviva Stadium in Ireland on 19 March.
The match weekend will see the airline operate a total of 26 flights between the two cities.Additional capacity will also come from Flybe substituting its usual Q400 aircraft (78 seats) with 118-seat Embraer 195 jets on most of the extra flights.Flybe’s chief commercial officer Mike Rutter said,By having the ability to add an extra flight and substituting larger aircraft on others, we have been able to increase our capacity by up to 85 per cent. This ensures that no fans are disappointed by not being able to make it to the match in person to cheer whichever of the two teams they support.
