Flights canceled,due to fog

Fog settling in the area Wednesday evening caused cancellations and delays at Chicago’s airports.Midway and O’Hare reported more than 50 flight cancellations each, as well as delays of 30 minutes to an hour. Delay times were expected to increase throughout the evening.Earlier Wednesday, the situation at Chicago’s airports was improving, though many passengers remained stranded. There were big crowds at O’Hare as people who were re-booked because of cancellations tried to find seats on new flights.

ABC7 talked with two travelers who were trying to get to Times Square in New York to see the ball drop on New Year’s Eve.We booked tickets quite a while ago. We printed out the boarding passes, checked in last night, thought we were good to go and today they cancelled it. It is frustrating,said Sarah White.Airport officials continue to ask passengers to call airlines ahead before heading to the airport.
