Heavy snowfall in Europe on Wednesday shut down a few large airports, delayed Eurostar trains and brought chaos on the roads in several countries, Agence France-Presse reported.The snowfall closed London’s Gatwick Airport, airports of Scotland’s Edinburgh, France’s Lyon and Switzerland’s Geneva. The Swiss radio station RSR reported that the Cointrin Airport, Geneva, was closed until 2 p.m. on Wednesday.Some 300 passengers were stranded in Cointrin as a result of the service interruption of taxis, buses and trains as well as the lack of rooms in Geneva’s hotels. The Geneva Airport, the second largest in Switzerland, cancelled some flights but continued its work.In Germany, heavy snowfall and frost over the past two days were blamed for thousands of road accidents and hundreds of flights cancelled or delayed.
