Fights to Jeju will increase drastically until March, making it easier for travelers to buy tickets to the island this winter.According to the winter airline schedule released by the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs for 2010-2011, a total of 1,017 round-trip flights, up 20 flights per week from last year, will operate every week on 13 routes including Gimpo-Jeju.The number of flights is up 2 percent on-year, but the total number of seats will increase to some 390,000 per week or 6 percent. While the overall number of inland flights this year decreased by 42 flights per week compared to last year, flights to Jeju increased with 789 flights between Gimpo and Jeju a week. The biggest reason for the increase is that low-cost airlines have increased flights and the number of seats.T’Way Airlines, which started business in September, has launched 56 flights per week on the Gimpo-Jeju route, and budget carriers now account for 46.4 percent of all flights to and from the island.
