A number of Caribbean Airlines flights were cancelled yesterday as Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados remained closed against the rage of Hurricane Tomas.The airport was due to be re-opened at 6 a.m. today, provided the weather was favourable.Among the Caribbean Airlines flights thwarted yesterday was BW 902, BW903, BW 446 and BW 447, while BW 417 was forced to stop in St Maarten.
That flight later left St Maarten at 6 p.m. and arrived in Port of Spain at 7:40 p.m.LIAT also cancelled a number of flights and suspended service from Martinique, St Lucia, St Vincent, Barbados and Grenada.The suspension remained in place until press time yesterday and passengers were advised to contact the LIAT Call Centre for further information.LIAT may be reached at 480-5582 in Antigua, toll free at 1-888-844-5428 from the rest of the Caribbean and 1-866-549-5428 from Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
