Frontier Airlines to start flight to Kansas City-Fort

Frontier Airlines adds new, seasonal nonstop flights between Kansas City, Mo., and Fort Myers this winter.Starting Dec. 18, the Denver-based carrier would offer weekly flights between the cities. That would increase to two round-trip flights per week in February.Kansas City has been a huge area of growth for Frontier this past year and we’re thrilled to add yet another nonstop destination this winter,Daniel Shurz, vice president of strategy and planning, said in a prepared statement.Providing the only nonstop access between Kansas City and Fort Myers furthers our commitment to the community by providing our guests with convenient and affordable access to the places they want to fly.A 99-seat Embraer 190 aircraft will serve the new route. Customers will enjoy comfortable leather seating in a two-by-two configuration with four rows of seating, which provides an additional five inches of legroom, according to a prepared statement.Republic Airways Holdings Inc. bought Frontier last year and has a regional focus in Milwaukee, Kansas City and Denver.The December flight proposed schedules would depart Kansas City International Airport at 2:25 p.m. Saturdays and arrive at Southwest Florida International Airport at 6:15 p.m. Also, depart at 6:45 p.m. Saturdays from Fort Myers and arrive at 9:05 p.m. in Kansas City.Then, from Feb. 8 to March, 29, 2011, the flights would be offered on Tuesdays and Saturdays.Lee County Port Authority spokeswoman Victoria Moreland could not immediately be reached for comment.A special rate of $119 one-way introductory fare is available on FrontierAirlines.com/introfares through Dec. 18.
