Hundreds of passengers had to return disappointed back to their homes from the Srinagar International Airport after several airlines cancelled Srinagar-bound flights on Monday.The passengers said they were made to wait for several hours at the airport before being told that all the airlines have cancelled flights till September 17.We were first made to wait at Srinagar airport where from we were scheduled to move to Awantipora airbase, some 30 kilometres south of Srinagar,the exasperated passengers told Greater Kashmir.
The airport authorities and airlines informed us that all flights to and from Srinagar have been cancelled till Friday 17th, said a passenger, who missed an important business meeting in New Delhi.Pertinently, since September 3, all the flight operations to and from Srinagar airport have been shifted to Awantipora air base on account of the runway repairs of Srinagar Airport by the Indian Air Force.
