Air Canada announced a new non-stop service between Toronto and Copenhagen Thursday, continuing to expand its European presence a few months after an Icelandic volcano grounded most flights going to Europe.
Air Canada is building its Toronto hub and this year we have launched long-haul service to four new, major European destinations. The addition of Copenhagen is important strategically, said Ben Smith, executive vice-president and COO for Air Canada in a release.
The Copenhagen route is the fourth new city Air Canada has launched non-stop service to this year. It launched non-stop flights to Athens and Barcelona via Toronto last month, while also adding non-stop flight to Brussels from Montreal. The new Copenhagen route is the only non-stop service to Scandinavia from Canada. Flights will be leaving Toronto five days a week.
