More torrential rain hit southern China yesterday, forcing cancellations and delays of hundreds of flights into and out of Beijing.Wide areas of southern China have been hit by heavy rains since Sunday, causing floods and landslides that have killed at least 46 people and left 50 others missing, according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
Millions of people have been affected in six provinces and regions and nearly 240,000 people have had to evacuate their homes.In the capital, there were long traffic jams on highways as commuters returned to work after a three-day holiday.Beijing’s Capital Airport said 314 flights were also cancelled and another 489 were delayed.Singapore Airlines said flight SQ803 from Beijing was delayed for more than three hours.
