Hawaiian Airlines topped a list for not canceling a single flight in March, according to a report released Tuesday by the U.S. Department of Transportation.Continental Airlines Inc. NYSE: CAL had the second-lowest rate of domestic flight cancellations among 18 major carriers with a 0.2 percent rate of canceled flights during the month, while Alaska Airlines came in third with 0.5 percent.
Overall, the 18 reporting carriers canceled 1.5 percent of their scheduled domestic flights during the month, down from 5.5 percent in February and 2.1 percent in March 2009.The on-time performance rate by all of the carriers was 80 percent, up from 74.6 percent in February and 78.4 percent in March 2009. Hawaiian also topped that list.
