The US Department of Transportation has given Delta approval for flights between Delta’s Detroit hub and South America.The airline will be permitted to flight a twice weekly service to Sao Paulo, Brazil from October 21st.

Airline officials have said they believe the new Brazil service will strengthen the airport’s importance as an international gateway.Delta has been expanding its overseas routes from Detroit, with flights already expanding into Hong Kong and Seoul from June.
